Furloughed Daily Briefing Addict Returns To Watching "The Chase"
HAMPSHIRE - Downing Street has today announced that the Coronavirus daily briefings will now only be held for 'special announcements', leaving a void in the scheduling for many daytime television addicts.
"I can finally return to watching a complete episode of 'The Chase'", stated an excited Colin Collinson (55) furloughed tour-guide of "Smoke On The Water", Hampshire's only pyro-aquatic Deep Purple themed amusement park, "Although in fairness, since Robert Peston stopped asking 47 minute questions, I do at least catch the second half of The Final Chase".
For some viewers the end of the daily briefing will cause some distress
"I've developed a bit of a thing for Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty", stated Mr Collinson's neighbour, Mrs Peart at number 37, "Luckily I've recorded all the briefings on my VHS for the last three months to quell my desires in the empty afternoons. The video cassettes are sitting proudly and chronologically next to my eleven years' worth of 'Deal or No Deal' recordings, which I like to watch on fast forward after Emmerdale."
But not everyone will be returning to the Bradley Walsh favourite
"We're more a Pointless couple", said the pretentious couple at number 15, "It's the whole Xander/Richard chemistry that we find so electric. Although our cleaner says ITV is quite entertaining"
Rumours that a new show, filling the 5pm slot featuring Basil Brush and Laura Kuenssberg are yet to be confirmed.
